Arsen 33 ist ein offener Raum für Kunst, Vermittlung und Austausch im Zürcher Quartier Hottingen. Der Name verweist auf das chemische Element Arsen, ein Halbmetall mit widersprüchlicher Natur: zugleich Gift und Heilmittel, zerstörerisch und transformierend. Diese Ambivalenz begreifen wir als Denkfigur für unseren Raum: zwischen Unsichtbarem und Wirkung, zwischen Fürsorge und Widerstand.

Arsen 33 versteht sich als Experimentierfeld für Kunst im Kontext von Umwelt, Feminismus und Zugehörigkeit. Uns interessiert, wie sich globale Krisen konkret, lokal und geschlechtsspezifisch zeigen; in Körpern, Biografien, Nachbarschaften. Im Dialog mit dem Quartier fragen wir, wie aus kleinen,nachhaltigen Handlungen jenseits von Verwertung und Effizienz Gemeinschaft entstehen kann.

Arsen 33 ist somit Ausstellungsspace, Leseraum, Kino, Werkstatt und Treffpunkt zugleich. Wir laden Künstler:innen, Denker:innen und Nachbar:innen ein, neue Verbindungen einzugehen – zwischen Kunst und Alltag, Umwelt und Körper, Theorie und Handlung.

Arsen 33 is an open space for art, mediation, and exchange in Zurich’s Hottingen district. The name refers to the chemical element arsenic, a semimetal with a contradictory nature: both poison and remedy, destructive and transformative. We embrace this ambivalence as a guiding metaphor for our space: between the invisible and its effects, between care and resistance.

Arsen 33 understands itself as a field of experimentation for art in the context of environment, feminism, and belonging. We are interested in how global crises manifest in concrete, local, and gender-specific ways – in bodies, biographies, neighborhoods. In dialogue with the district, we ask how community can emerge from small, sustainable actions beyond exploitation and efficiency.

Arsen 33 is thus at once exhibition space, reading room, cinema, workshop, and meeting place. We invite artists, thinkers, and neighbors to enter into new connections – between art and everyday life, environment and body, theory and action.
